What's up LinkedIn's Sleeve in Q1?

Posted by Viveka von Rosen on January 28 2015

Find me on:

LinkedIn is coming up with some pretty cool new tools to help Employees with the connection and engagement within their own companies on LinkedIn.

A big thank you to Re/Tool Blog for reporting the latest and greatest!

Intra Office Communication Tool

These new intra-office tools will help employees not only to stay connected, but will encourage the sharing of contact info.  It appears to be a CRM system similar to Salesforce, but embedded within LinkedIn.  There is no word yet as to what this will cost and if it is in fact just a revamp of the current relationship between LinkedIn and Salesforce through the Sales Navigator tool.

You can read more about this new tool here: http://recode.net/2015/01/13/upcoming-linkedin-products-connect-coworkers/

Redisigned Home Page

Most of us don’t have it yet, but LinkedIn revealed its new home page in December to a lucky few (Check out link below to see what it looks like.)

It seems that they are trying to encourage more communication between members.  Where the Who’s Viewed feature used to be located on the right of your home page, its now at the very top. You’ll also get a notification of someone who has had a birthday, been promoted, has moved or is having a job anniversary. (I still think its easier to click on Connections and see them all there)

Employees Group Sharing Feature

Its been awhile since LinkedIn did anything with groups – and now it looks like they are paying attention to the creation and dissemination of content via company groups.  According to LinkedIn officials, they hope “this direct and targeted sharing will lead to more re-sharing on the platform.”

According to Re/Code “LinkedIn is building out a separate app that it hopes employees will use to join groups within their company. Then a company admin can distribute tailored content to those groups. ..these new groups will be solely dedicated to content sharing within a company.” . As part of the tool, employers will be able to track stats on how often content is shared by its employees and to how many people

I think this is a great idea since employees can make the best advocates, but it has also been my experience that they rarely share content from groups or company pages.  My fingers are crossed that this solution might encourage employee advocacy in LinkedIn!

Now - how much is this going to cost us????
